Terms of use
Last updated: 19 June 2026
The agreement between you and Path — in plain language. Path is free, alpha software for managing your own professional development.
About these terms
These terms of use govern your use of Path, professional development portfolio software operated by Michael Rowe as a personal research and development project, independent of any institution. By creating an account or using Path, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Path is in a closed, invitation-only pilot and offered free of charge. These terms will develop as the service does; the date above reflects the most recent revision, and we will flag material changes via the in-app notification bell.
These terms should be read alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data.
Who can use Path
Path is in a closed pilot, so accounts are currently available to invited participants only. Path is intended for use by professionals managing their own development; it is not intended for use by anyone under 18.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity that happens under your account. We strongly encourage you to enable two-factor authentication (Profile → Account).
Please give accurate account information and keep it up to date. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Acceptable use
Path is for documenting your own professional practice. When you use it, you agree not to:
- Upload content you do not have the right to share, or that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights.
- Upload patient-identifiable information, or special-category data about identifiable individuals, that you are not entitled to share — redact names and identifying details first.
- Attempt to access other users' data, probe or breach the security of the service, or disrupt its operation.
- Use Path to store content unrelated to professional development, or for any unlawful purpose.
Your content
You own the content you create in Path — your claims, reflections, CPD, evidence, statements, and other records. You are responsible for what you upload.
You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the service for you: to store your content, display it back to you, and share it on your instruction (for example, with a reviewer via a link you create, or with colleagues when you submit a path for internal review). We do not use your content for any other purpose, and we do not claim ownership of it.
You can export your content at any time (Profile → Export everything) and delete your account, which permanently removes your content and uploaded files.
Availability and alpha status
Path is alpha software provided free of charge. We do not guarantee that it will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Because the service is under active development, you should keep your own copies of anything important and not rely on Path as your only record. The export feature is provided for this purpose.
No warranties
Path is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements or that any data will be preserved without loss.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and given that Path is provided free of charge, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit, or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Path and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, misuses the service, or puts other users or the service at risk. Where reasonable and lawful, we will tell you first.
On termination, your right to use the service ends. Account deletion permanently removes your content; see the privacy policy for detail.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date above and, where the changes are material, notify you via the in-app notification bell. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
